Don't waste money on a expensive new eco kettle if yours is working well.
Until you can do this by feeling the weight of your kettle fill your mug with water and empty into the 
kettle and you will boil exactly one mug of water for your coffee... money saved :)

Get a house hold thermometer and try to cut your living room heat to 15 or 16 degrees max it doesn't take long to get accustomed to it. Turning your heating off one hour before bed saves money too !
Don't heat bedrooms at all very wastful ! if you 
get really cold do what we do in Kernow and put a small pig (weener) in a breathable sack in your bed
they keep you warm, don't move about as much as you think once they settle and make a contented
snoring sound that aids restful sleep...
